Supporting an equal pay claim

Paul was instructed under the Direct Access scheme to assist in the preliminary stages and advise on an ‘as and when needed basis’ in connection with a claim for equal pay arising from a female Financial Director employed for substantially less than her male comparator, and for unpaid overtime in excess of £10,000.

In order to limit her expenses, the client wished to conduct the final (three-day) hearing herself, but was able to use Paul’s expertise and experience to assist when dealing with the procedural stages of disclosure, finalising her witness statements and analysing the evidence and witness statements produced by her employer.

Paul’s client also benefitted from his guidance on how to prepare for the main hearing and how to deal with negotiations with the other side.
