Nicole Jennings

Since joining Becket Chambers, I have developed a busy private child law and civil practice. I accept direct access instructions for representation, written advice and drafting legal documents at all stages of proceedings in both private child law and civil law.

I understand that legal proceedings can be complex and daunting. I pride myself on going the extra mile to ensure my clients understand as much as possible about the proceedings and potential outcomes.

I regularly appear in private child matters which include ‘live with’/’spend time with’ orders, prohibited steps orders and specific issue orders. I have represented parents and extended family members in first hearing dispute resolution appointments (FHDRA), dispute resolution appointments (DRA), fact-finding hearings and final hearings.

I am frequently instructed to represent both the applicant and respondent in non-molestation orders and occupation orders.

I have a busy civil practice. I represent individuals and companies in small claims, fast track trials and other civil proceedings. I have experience in contract disputes, personal injury claims, trusts of land (TOLATA) and property/land disputes.

I am able to provide representation as well as written advice on the prospects of success of your claim. My attention to detail and sharp negotiation skills enable me to provide robust representation and allow me to explore options that avoid litigation.

Prior to joining Becket Chambers, I was part of an in-house legal team at one of the leading global media companies in London working on international contracts. This enabled me to develop my negotiation skills and represent clients in difficult and confrontational scenarios.

I have also worked on a national real estate project where I regularly negotiated agreements with a variety of companies including local councils and NHS bodies. This experience enabled me to gain a full understanding of my clients’ commercial and legal needs.

I have volunteered with many pro bono projects, including The Family Advice Scheme, The Norfolk Community Law Service (Domestic Abuse Team), and the BPP Pro Bono Unit. I continue to volunteer at the Kent Law Clinic helping those with limited access to legal advice.

Private Law (Child Arrangements Programme)

I appear for both the applicant and respondent across all stages of proceedings. I have expertise in representing clients at emergency hearings where little evidence is available.

It is important to me that my clients are well represented and have confidence in their representation when dealing with issues concerning their family. I understand how important the final decision is and how stressful proceedings can be. I aim to ensure that my clients fully understand each stage of proceedings.

There is often opportunity for negotiation to agree a final order without needing a final hearing. If possible, I work with my clients to achieve an agreed order that is in the best interests of the children and is something that is workable for my client.

Property and Land Law

I am regularly instructed by tenants and landlords on a variety of disputes. I have particular expertise of possession proceedings and have provided webinars on this topic.

My practice includes matters involving disputes between neighbours, nuisance and/or trespass, disputes over possession of land and trusts of land (TOLATA). I have been instructed by both the claimant and defendant in relation to charging orders and orders for sale.
